On the Saturday morning before Elize’s wedding we visited the White River Art Gallery. What a beautiful tranquil inspiring place!
There is a lot of construction going on in the complex that houses the gallery; even so the entrance is serene and welcoming. The outside is clad in corrugated iron. There is a cantilevered section that juts out over the entrance. This section with its glass face brings in piles of light to the gallery. Inside the white walls makes the space large and floaty. The concrete floors are cool and calm. Clerestory windows add to the light but do not take away any art hanging space. The exposed conduits and pipes give an industrial feel to the space. Nelspruit and White River are certainly changing their image and are well worth a visit. When there, a bit of time spent at the White River Art Gallery is a must. |
The current exhibition is Carl Jeppe. Not sure how long this is on for, contact the enquiries number below if you are interested.
